Naval Base Housing
1969. One of the detached residences (No 101) on Wellington Road allocated to civilian staff posted to Singapore. These overlooked the Dockyard Swimming Pool (now called The Terror Club) and the football pitch. Different from the regular 'Black & Whites' as these had living accommodation on the ground floor and bedrooms upstairs. Note the cowboy style swing doors downstairs and the drop down cane blinds (we called them chiks) upstairs. All to aid ventilation and cooling of the property.
