Sembawang Village - Kampung Water Point 195246 viewsSembawang Village located just outside the Naval Base Main Gate sprung up and prospered due to the presence of the base. The land was originally a mixture of malarial swamp and rubber plantation. In time piped water arrived but like in a lot of Singapore kampungs only by stand pipe. Even in 1958 I witnessed locals getting their water as in this photo. Collecting it in 5 gallon rectangular metal tins that were previously used for the delivery of the kerosene used for lighting & cooking.Mar 05, 2025

Singapore Naval Base - Sembawang Photo Services. Mr T K Lee 1998136 views1998. After 33 years Pete Banks meets up with T K Lee of Sembawang Photo Services.
Passing through the old Naval Base in 1998 I am shocked to learn that a Mr T K Lee was now the photographer of choice for the US Navy families on the base and I immediately looked him up. Many of the photographs being uploaded to this site by ex Naval Base residents were taken by Mr Lee. He covered all the dances, galas, private birthday parties etc or he sold you the camera that you used yourself.
(Sadly the Lee Photo Studio website now says ‘Permanently Closed’)
