Our pet monkey297 views1961 - Many animals mainly cats and dogs were passed on between families coming and going from the Naval Base. In our case we took over the only monkey on the base. Beppy a blue rhesus macaque who turned out to be a very loyal pet and 'guard dog' for the property. Beppy was a great friend of the passing ice cream van. The driver ran an account with Beppy to supply an ice lolly on passing and ran up a large account that we settled every month.
